I wasn't sure how many people had actually heard our engagement story, so I figured that was a natural way to start out the rest of this blog!
Josh and I started dating February 25th of 2007, during spring semester of Freshman year. So the day that he proposed we had been dating for about 2 years and 4 months.
On 12:00am on the 19th last June I made Joshua go buy some alcohol from the gas station down the block to signify the beginning of a new era. So when my birthday came up 4 days later, it was no surprise that at 12:00am we were in the car on the way to that same destination. After making my purchase and telling the cashier "it's my birthday!" and him basically looking at me like "... OK? Do you want a high five??" we were on our way home... or so I thought. Instead of heading back towards our street he started turning onto a different street. I asked where we were going and he said that we were going to go to the park. I was pretty excited about that because it was really nice out and hanging out on the playground on my birthday would basically be amazing (as anyone who knows me knows!)
So we started walking into the park and walking through the grass and I was talking about how pretty all the fireflies were when he stopped and told me to close my eyes. So I did. When I opened them, there he was, down on one knee, holding a box up with this shiny circular thing in it. It's funny because I could pretty much tell you verbatim what he said the day he asked me out way back when, but I don't think I could tell you a single thing he said that night because I was way too surprised to be comprehending anything haha. Hearing all of the stories afterward was really funny. How a herd of Whitsons went with Joshua to pick out the ring. How Josh had to text Jeremy to go put the ring in his car because I wouldn't let him go downstairs while Jordan and I were baking something. Jeremy saying he was amazed that nobody said anything about him going outside at night with a hoodie and coming back without one... It was all just too funny.
This was almost a year ago (in 3 days!!) and now we're all married and living in Cambridge and stuff... it's just so strange how quickly everything happens and how life turns out!
Ok... well, it's officially 1:30 in the morning and I never go to bed this late anymore so I am EXHAUSTED!! Goodnight everyone. Hope you'll check this out when I get more things posted on here!!
